Phone access
Pair the Velork phone app with your computer, choose which folders it can open, and keep the computer reachable with the lid closed.
The Velork phone app connects to Velork on your computer. Your projects, chats, and agents keep running on the computer, and you check on them or start new work from your phone.
All phone settings live in Settings → Phone. Open it from Settings or run Velork: Phone settings from the Command Palette.
Pair a phone
- In Velork, open Settings → Phone and click Show code next to Pair a phone. You can also run Velork: Pair with a phone.
- On your phone, open Velork, tap Scan QR, and point the camera at the code.
- When the phone connects, Velork shows Phone connected.
A code lasts 5 minutes, and Velork shows how long it has left. If it expires, click New code.
Choose how the phone connects
Under Connection:
- Local network: find this computer over Wi-Fi and Tailscale
- Remote tunnel: stay connected when you're away from home
Both are on by default. Turn off Remote tunnel if you only want to connect on your own network.
Choose which folders the phone can open
Folders controls what the phone's file picker and AI can open.
- Allow all folders: everything except blocked folders. This is on by default.
- Turn it off to limit access. Then Include folders open in Velork adds the folders you have open, and Add folder adds others.
- Blocked lists folders the phone can never open. Velork suggests common sensitive folders you can block with one click.
Folder limits don't apply to the terminal. Anyone using the paired phone can run commands anywhere your user account can. Only pair phones you control.
Keep the computer reachable
By default your computer sleeps when you close the lid, and the phone can't reach it. Under Keep awake:
- Stay available: while Velork is open, closing the lid won't sleep the computer. Quitting Velork lets it sleep normally.
- Only while charging: pause on battery
- Open at login: start Velork again after you sign in
Turning on Stay available asks you to confirm, and may need one more approval from the system: Continue on macOS (which may open Login Items), Approve on Windows, or Allow on Linux. On systems that don't support it, Velork shows Not available on this system. Keeping a closed laptop awake can heat it and drain the battery, so plug it in and leave it ventilated.
