Sessions

Each chat with the agent is a session. Sessions run independently, so you can have one agent building a feature while another fixes a bug. A session keeps working when you switch away from it.

Start, close, and switch sessions

These shortcuts work while the chat has focus. When focus is in the agents panel, the same keys act on the panel's tabs instead. Closing a session keeps its history.

Tabs or sidebar

In the Agents layout, sessions appear as tabs above the chat by default. To show them in a sidebar on the left instead, go to Settings → General → Sessions and choose Sidebar, or run Switch Sessions Between Sidebar and Tabs from the command palette.

With tabs, these shortcuts also work outside the agents panel:

To find an older session, use the search button in the title bar.

Group tabs by workspace

If you work across several projects, Settings → General → Tabs by workspace controls how tabs are grouped:

• Off gives every open chat its own tab.
• Picker shows one workspace at a time, with a switcher to find the others.
• Groups shows a labelled group for the workspace you're in and for each workspace with a chat still working or finished but not yet seen.

Use the agents panel

In the Agents layout, the agents panel sits beside the chat. It opens the things the agent works with as tabs:

Cmd + Option + 1 and Cmd + Option + 4 also work in the IDE layout. Show or hide the panel with Cmd + Option + B. Press Cmd + P to search your project's files and open one in the panel.

While the panel has focus, Cmd + T opens a new panel tab, Cmd + W closes one, and Cmd + 1 to 9 jump between them.

To put the chat on the other side of the window, run Move Chat to Other Side from the command palette or use its button in the title bar's layout controls.

Inspect subagent sessions

When the agent splits work across subagents, each subagent runs in its own session. Click a subagent's card in the chat to open its full session, with every tool call and edit. Use Back to return to the main chat.

Get notified

Velork sends a system notification when an agent finishes or needs you. This helps when several sessions are running in the background. It is on by default; turn it off in Settings → General → Notifications.

Run work without a chat open

Tasks on the task board run in their own sessions, even while you work in another chat. See Tasks.
