MCP servers
Add Model Context Protocol servers to give Agent tools from GitHub, Linear, your own APIs, and more.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers give Agent extra tools: read pull requests, file issues, look up docs, or call your own APIs from chat.
Manage servers in Settings → Tools & MCP. MCP servers are unlimited on every plan.
Add a server from the catalog
- Open Settings → Tools & MCP
- Click Browse
- Pick a server and install it
Add a server yourself
- Open Settings → Tools & MCP and click Add server
- Paste one of these from the server's docs:
- A command, such as
npx -y @upstash/context7-mcp - A URL, for a server that runs on the web, such as
https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp - The JSON config block
- A command, such as
- Check the Details. Velork shows whether the server runs on this computer or connects over the web. When you paste JSON, it fills in the name and variables for you.
- Optional: change the Name, which is how the server shows up in Velork
- Add Environment variables for a local server, or Headers for a web server, such as an API key. Values for keys, tokens, and secrets stay hidden until you click into them.
- Turn on Only this workspace to save the server with the current project instead of for every workspace. This switch only shows when a folder is open.
- Click Add server. For a command or URL you can also press Enter in the paste field.
Velork opens the new server's page when it's added.
To edit servers by hand, click Edit the MCP config file at the bottom of the page.
Check a server
Each server shows its status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Connected | Running, with the number of tools it offers |
| Starting | Starting up |
| Error | Couldn't start. Listed under Needs attention. |
| Off | Not running |
| Disabled | Turned off, so it doesn't start |
Click a server to see the tools it gives Agent, with their descriptions, and to Start, Stop, or Restart it. Output shows the server's log, and Configuration opens its config. To uninstall it, click Remove, then click again to confirm.
Servers show a badge for where they're saved: User, the workspace name, or Remote.
Control what tools can run
MCP tools follow Settings → Permissions. Set the MCP category to Allow, Ask, or Block. With Ask, Agent waits for you to approve each call in chat.

Ask for the result. Agent picks the tool.
